Emperor will readily take soft plastic's and jigs while fishing the bottom. Inshore they can be caught on poppers and soft plastics.

The best time to get a Long Nose Emperor on a surface lure is when the tide is running off a reef or sand flat into deeper water. Keep in mind Long nose emperor prefer clearer water's.
