Cawarral Creek
Cawarral Creek is a baron waste land when it comes to fishing, the local often joke naming it the marine desert, however if you want to give it a fish its worth during the right weather and time of year.
The creek has been known to produce quality Bream, Grunter, Flathead and Whiting. The big Bream are best targeted in the cooling months around the spawning time. Flathead fish well all year round but particularly good during the lead up to the warmer months. Whiting can be fished for all year round but are the most abundant during the Summer months around weed beds and sand flats.
The usual threats are found in Cawarral Creek, mosquitoes, sand flies and there is a crocodile farm not far from the creek with rare crocodiles sightings – warning is advised. Stingers also lurk the area in the Summer months (November to May) however the water isn’t all that enticing.
