Bremer Bay Fishing Spots

A relatively remote town, Bremer Bay offers some of the South West’s best fishing, from rock fishing for Snapper and Mulloway, beach fishing for salmon to estuary fishing for Black Bream. For land based anglers in Bremer Bay a 4wd is needed to access the best spots however there are still some fantastic fishing spots in Bremer Bay for the family. Australian Salmon and Herring can be caught all year around at Bremer Bay.

These is a boat ramp at Bremer River, here anglers can target Black Bream and when the bar is open the Bremer River entrance produces mulloway.

Bremer River Black Bream Fishing

Bremer River has great Black Bream fishing in the middle reaches, the bream don’t go to far upstream so focus efforts around the middle regions. Casting soft plastics into snags to slow drift down is a great way to land some bream. During the summers months bream will readily take hard bodies amongst the snags, shallow diver and deep divers all work well.

Where to go beach fishing in Bremer Bay

Short Beach

Short beach is easily accessible via a sealed road and offers good fishing for Australia Salmon.

Reef Beach

Access is via a 4wd only, rock platform cliffs drop into deep water and produce Samon fish, Pink Snapper, Mulloway and sharks. The beaches produce Trevally (skippy) and Australia Salmon.

Fosters Beach

Access is via high clearance 4wd only. At the beach anglers can target Salmon and Skippy. Some of the rock platforms drop into deeper water which produce Samon, Pink snapper and Mulloway at night.

Pallinup Estuary / Beaufort Inlet

Beaufort Inlet is locally known as Pallinup Estuary, fishing here is fantastic for Black Bream. Small minnow hard body lures, soft plastics and small vibes all work well for black bream. Upstream is generally the best place to target Black Bream in Pallinup Estuary. When the bar breaks there is good fishing for Mulloway as they enter the estuary for smash bait fish.

Wellstead Estuary

Fishing is Wellstead Estuary is fantastic for Black Bream. Small minnow hard body lures, soft plastics and small vibes all work well for black bream. Upstream is generally the best place to target Black Bream in Wellstead creek. When the bar breaks there is good fishing for Mulloway as the enter the estuary for smash bait fish.

Gorden Inlet

Located approximately 17km north of Bremer Bay township is Gorden Inlet which is accessible via four wheel drive only. Car Topper boat and kayaks are the only way to fish Gorden Inlet, the upper Gorden River produces okay Black Bream fishing.

will be at bremer bay during june 2017, could advice for beach/eschay fishing be given

    • Fishing Spots

Hey mate, it’ll be cold! There’s salmon around Bremer Bay all year round, the best spot to try is Fosters Beach, you’ll see the schools. Reef beach is also a good spot for Salmon and even the odd Mulloway. Get yourself some Halco Twisty metal slugs 30g. If you find some salmon just cast the metal slug out and retrieve, the salmon will smash it. Both beaches are to the west of Bremer. You could also try the flats on Bremer River for Bream, use shallow diving lures that suspend, like the Ecogear SX40LC. There are also bream around Pallinup River mouth and further upstream if you are keen on exploring. Good luck and I hope you get a few fish.
