Only an hour drive north of Brisbane, Sunshine Coast fishing spots offer many options for anglers. The beaches from Caloundra to Double Island head fish well for Dart and Bream. In winter the Tailor turn up on the beaches of the Sunshine Coast, which produce great beach fishing. Mulloway also cruise the cold winter waters, stalking the schools of spawning sea mullet. The estuaries like the Maroochy River and Noosa River are home to Bream, Flathead, Whiting and line pulling Mangrove Jack in Summer. Flathead are abundant in Spring as they move upstream to spawn.

Teewah Beach to Double Island head holds good numbers of Tailor through the cooler months. There is close to 50km of beach to choose from. Double Island head has pelagics and the sometimes Mackerel during Summer. During the cooler months Mulloway and the odd Pink snapper search for food around the head land.

Noosa is home to some great headland fishing, plus deep gutters make up the beaches from Noosa to Coolum, where you’ll never have to share a fishing spot. Here anglers can tangle with Tailor, Whiting and the odd Mulloway from the beach.

The freshwater stretches of Mooloolah, Maroochy and the Noosa River hold good numbers of Native Australian Bass. Summer is the peak period for bass fishing, it can be very exciting seeing a native aussie bass smash a lure off the surface.

The mighty Maroochy River fires up from time to time. Year round Dusky Flathead, Yellowfin Bream and Whiting are common catches. Mangrove jack hide in thick structure and will take lures during Summer.

Caloundra is home to some of the best Flathead fishing on the Sunshine Coast. The mighty Pumicestone Passage provides a safe haven for a huge array of marine life. The weed beds, deep holes and creeks off the passage produce fantastic fishing over Summer for Trevally and Mangrove Jacks. During winter the Flathead and Bream are abundant around spawning time. Big Mulloway and tailor also move into the passage. Mulloway can be found in the deeper holes and around the beaches and headlands of Moffat and Kings Beach.
