Located just 80km north of Sydney, Gosford, Brisbane Water and the complex waters of Broken Bay offer some of the best fishing spots in New South Wales. Broken Bay has been closed to commercial netting for over 50years and is known for its boating, scenic views and shoes, all of which offer some great fishing spots in and around Gosford.

Woy Woy, Ettalong Beach, Gosford and the eastern towns surrounding Brisbane Waters all have great facilities for land based fishing, kayak and boating. With great boat ramps, toilets, wash down facilities and parks dotted throughout Brisbane Waters this is a great area to fish for both locals and visitors. Hardcore anglers and families can enjoy the fishing on offer and a boat isn’t necessary to catch some great fish and enjoy the fishing spots around Gosford and Broken Bay.

Land based anglers can expect to catch fish species such as Bream, Flathead, Whiting, Leatherjacket, Luderick, and Mulloway, along with blue swimmer crabs during the right time of year. Boat based fishing in Brisbane Waters offers the same fish species however Mulloway are a common target species for locals. Kayaking fishing is very popular as it provides great stealth for chasing Bream and Flathead in the weed beds.

Umina Beach is a popular tourist destination but also has some great land based fishing spots. Woy Woy has some great fishing spots around Lions Park boat ramp, the wharf and at Spike Milligan bridge. Noonan Point and Gosford have some great places to flick fishing lures for bream around the countless jetties. Daleys Point and Wagstaffe can be quieter with less people making these great locations for fishing around Gosford.
