Cape Bryon headland has some great fishing in calm weather with small swells, a long walk to access. Good fishing for Tailor, Bream, Mulloway and even Longtail Tuna.

Where to go fishing near Cape Byron?

  • Oxbow Trail Easy access down to the beach, the fishing here is best done on an incoming tide, Bream, Whiting and Flathead are the main catches however Tailor are also around.
  • Belongil Beach Some great gutters along here protected a bit more from the SE swells, best fishing is on the incoming tide for Bream, Tailor, Whiting and Dusky Flathead.
  • Cosy Corner This fishing spot at Byron Bay is well protected from northerly winds so fishing is good in spring. Bream, whiting and Tailor here.
  • Suffolk Park Tallows beach at Suffolk park has some great fishing gutters. Here anglers can target Bream, Mulloway, Whiting and Tailor. Fish the incoming tide, find a good gutter and use strip bait of mullet.
  • Broken Head A popular beach and surf spot, Broken Head has protection from the South Easterly swells, fish off the rocks for Bream and Tailor mostly.
  • Brays Beach Fish off the rocks for Bream, Tailor and Mulloway. A nice secluded spot however requires calm weather with small swells to fish here.
  • Whites Beach A nice secluded fishing spot that produces Bream and Mulloway, Fish to the south off the rocks for Tailor. Incoming tide seems to be the best time to fish here.
  • Jews Point Mulloway / Jewfish along this beach, find a good gutter and fish the incoming tide. Tailor also passing by.
