Where to go fishing near Skippy Rock Augusta?

  • Hamelin Bay Best fishing in a small boat, close inshore fish for Herring, Whiting, and Skippy. Further offshore there is great fishing for Dhufish, Pink Snapper, Samson Fish, Yellowtail Kingfish and Queen Snapper. Australian Salmon from the beach in late summer to autumn.
  • Windy Harbour Windy harbour is a remote camping area that offers beach launching of a small boat. Land based and near shore of Windy Harbour fishes well for herring, King George Whiting and sometimes Australian Salmon from late summer to autumn. Further offshore the fishing gets better, anglers can target dhufish, Samson fish, Pink and Queen Snapper by bottom jigging soft plastics.
  • Donnelly River Shallow river that may hold Black Bream - good fishing at the river mouth is the bar is open.
  • Hardy Inlet Best fish from a boat or kayak, Hardy Inlet has some great fishing for a large range of species, Mulloway, Herring, Black Bream, Tarwhine, Skippy, Tailor and Whiting. It is best fished in warmer months.
  • Blackwood River Black Bream Cast lures deep into the Blackwood River snags to land some great size Black Bream. Gold minnows work well in the river, also naturally presented soft plastics with a slow drop and good tail action are also effective. Fish all the way up to Alexandra Bridge.
  • Scott River Good Black Bream fishing at the mouth of Scott River and around Molloy Island, the occasional Mulloway. Other species also can turn up including, Flathead, Skippy and Herring.
  • Flinders Bay Mulloway Mulloway can show up at the beach in the deeper channels.
