Seven Mile creek is a nice but fairly shallow estuary system, it offers some great fishing spots and also has a few hidden secrets to anglers willing to put in time.
It is best accessed via Dyckhoffs Road, where you can launch a boat and head downstream from mid to high tide, 4wd is recommended as the ramp can become boggy at times. This boat ramp also has a large area which is suitable for camping. Boaties can also access Seven Mile Creek from Turkey Beach or from Wild Cattle / Colosseum.
Seven Mile creek is a part of a Dugong sanctuary and it is not uncommon to see a dugong especially near the mouth of the Creek.
Launching a boat from Dyckhoffs Road on an incoming tide is a great place to start. From here anglers can cast at the various snags and small rock bars and can expect Cod, Bream and Mangrove Jack particularly in Summer.
As the creek opens up it can be quite shallow in spots and the numerous gutters and rubble bottom are perfect fishing spots for Bream and Flathead.
Further toward the mouth there are some good rock bars jutting out into the main channel which create disruptions in the tide flow. These spots sometimes have Barramundi, the main catch is Cod, Grunter and Bream.
The large sand bar at the mouth of Seven Mile Creek is a great fly fishing spot for Golden Trevally and Permit for the patience fly angler.
