Sweers Island
If you have a decent sized boat (over 4m), Sweers Island is only about 30km North from the Albert River mouth. Around May people have hit it big, with everything from Red Bass, GTs, Queenfish, Coral Trout, Jewfish, Golden Snappers, Sweetlips, Red Emperors, and so so much more.
The mouth of the Albert River gets really shallow, and about 1-2km out it slowly drops off. Steer wide of the island, and look out for rocks under the water.
Sweers Island Resort offers accommodation and great food, as well as an allocated boat for each guest booking! The island has incredible beaches, bird watching, and bushwalking if you wanted to spend some more time fishing this goldmine, or are worried about tackling the seas in your own craft.
