Large sand bar is a good spot for fly fishing for Permit and Golden Trevally on an incoming tide.
Rocky fish funnel
Rocky outcrop on a run out tide this rocky structure funnels fish back into the main channel. Lots of bait and a good spot for Queenfish, Bream and Cod.
Rocky Point Seven Mile
Rocky point juts out into the main channel. Good spot for Grunter, Cod and Pelagic fish.
Seven mile flats
Shallow flat with small channels, fish this area with soft plastics for Dusky Flathead on a run out tide. Bream and small trevally on an incoming tide.
Rocky headland
Rocky point here, fish around here on an outgoing tide and around the small back current for Bream and Cod. Barramundi have also been caught here.
Seven Mile Mangrove Jack
Mangrove lined bank in deeper water, good place for Mangrove Jack in summer. Bream and Cod year round.

Large but shallow rock bar, Mangrove Jack in summer, live bait works best.

Outer Rocks
Rocky outcrop only 5km from Pancake Creek mouth. This rocky outcrop is very fishy, however the best method to catch fish here is to use live bait. Fish the upstream side of moving current to target hungry fish.
Middle Rocks
Rocky outcrop, water depths from 30m up to 0. This spot produces reef species, Fingermark, Jew fish, pelagics and Mackerel. Bait work, live bait work best.
Inner Rocks
Rocky outcrop not from Pancake Creek. This fishing spot produces Fingermark, Jewfish, Mackerel and pelagic species mostly. Bait work, live bait is the best.
Bustard Head Bay
This bay has whiting, Bream and trevally, which can be sight casted. Hard spot to fish as it is not protected from the SE winds and swell.
Pancake Creek point
Small point here creates a small break in the tidal run, lots of bait fish school up here.
Pancake Creek reef
Reef drop off along here attracts some good fish. Great for spear fishing on a neap tide, however tide runs hard during spring tides. Large queenfish lurk along here. Small coral trout, tuskfish and more along here in the deeper waters.
Pancake Creek rocky flats
Fish use the deeper channel on an incoming tide to move onto the flats to feed on small crustaceans, anglers can target Trevally, Bream and more on these flats.
Pancake Creek sand flats
Sand flats here are good spot to fish on an incoming tide for roaming trevally.
Pancake Drop offs
Lots of drop offs and smaller deep holes. If camping close by, this is a good spot to fish on a dead low tide, walk the creek and cast into the deeper holes for Flathead, Bream, Cod and the odd Mangrove Jack.
Pancake Creek Clearwater
Mangrove lined banks here produce small trevally and Bream.
Pancake Creek Flathead
Good spot for flathead on a run out tide, cast long and wide around the small mangrove islands and at any small sandy drop offs.
Pancake Deep Snags
Sunken snags in deep water. Very fishy, this fishing spot produces Cod, Bream, Trevally, Barramundi and more. Soft vibes work well. Fishes good on both incoming and run out tide.
Pancake Snags 02
Snags along this bank in the water from low-mid to high tide. The clearer water isn’t as good for Mangrove Jacks, but Bream, Cod and Trevally.
Pancake Snags
Snags along this bank and a small gutter. Fish the snags on an incoming tide and around the back eddy of the gutter. Fish the gutter on a run out tide for Flathead.

Rock bar with scattered rocks runs along bank here, good fishing spot at pancake creek to live back for Mangrove Jack. Very snaggy but hard body lures produce Bream, Cod and Mangrove Jack.

Seal Rocks sand flats
Giant Herring have been caught around this spot.
Seal Rocks
Just 5km from the mouth of the Colosseum, Seal Rocks is a great spear fishing spot in winter when the water is clearer. Tuskfish, Coral Trout, Spanish Flag and Cod.
Hummock Hill Island flats
Small rocky outcrops along the sand flats is a good fishing spots for wandering Golden Trevally and schools of Blue Salmon.
Twelve Mile Creek Jack
Rock bar has Cod, Mangrove Jack, Bream and small barramundi.
Colosseum Jack
Mangrove Jack in the snags from this bend and upstream. Take caution rock bars ahead.
Colosseum Barra
Barramundi school up at this fishing spot at times along the bank. Large schools of herring and mullet at the point near the detached mangroves.
Large sandy flats
Large sandy flats with rubble bottom in patches. Good fishing on a rising tide for Trevally, Flathead and Blue Salmon. Small gutters produce flathead.
Deep hole / Rocks
Deep hole here with a good drop off and rock bar. This fishing spot produces Cod, Bream, Blue Salmon, Grunter and the odd Barramundi.
Colosseum Rock Bar
Large rock bar runs along this bank with patches of sea weed / grass. Good live baiting for Mangrove Jack, Bream and the odd Barramundi.
Lillys Flats
A big high tide at night these flats are exposed to the SE trade winds. Has good grunter on an incoming tide and flathead on the outgoing tide. Fish from here and south casting along the snags.
BSL Wharf 2
Popular jew fish spot. 12m deep.
Wiggins Flats
Good winter Bream, sight cast when the water is clear. Shale bottom.
South Trees pontoon
Mostly bream and grunter. Rocky bottom that is quiet shallow at low tide.
Wiggins feeder creek
Bream, Grunter and Flathead on the outgoing tide.
South Trees rock hole
Barramundi, Grunter and Mangrove jacks (summer). Fish the start of the incoming tide. Herring bait in the deep ledge. 7-11m deep.
South Trees Pipe Bridge 1
Barramundi, Salmon and Cod. Best on the run in tide. About 6-8m deep.
Calliope River old wharf
Bream, Cod and Barramundi on an outgoing tide.
South Trees feeder creek
Bream and flathead on the run out tide.
South Trees Pipe Bridge 2
Barramundi around the pylons. Larger soft plastics work well. Suffers from a fair bit of pressure.
South Trees Rock bar
Rock bar extends ¾ across the creek. Holds few fish, best fished with bait.
Curtis island flats
Flats have Blue Salmon and Flathead. Open the SE wind, best fished incoming tide in Winter.
BSL Bridge
Holds Barramundi, Grunter, Cod and Mangrove Jack. Heavily fished so live baits are the best. Night and an incoming tide is a good combination.
QAL Pump station
Good grunter and Barramundi around the pylons
Old meatworks jetty
Grunter, Barramundi, Pelagics and more all haunt this area. Heavy structure under water be careful. Vibes work, as well as bait.
Barney Point Wharf
Barramundi, big Bream and Grunter on an incoming tide.
Gladstone Rock Wall
Bream and Cod along the rock wall, incoming tide.
Picnic Island
Out going tide produces a big back eddy. Rocky drop off holds Jewfish, Blubber lip, Grunter and the odd Barramundi.
Calliope River Mouth
Bream, Cod and Barramundi along the rock wall. Incoming Tide.
East Banks
Queenfish and the occasional Giant Herring.
Sable Chief Rocks
Holds small tusk fish, Cod, Coral Trout, Squid in the shallows and lots of flowery cod. Live bait is the best.
Witt Island
Deep hole and big back eddy on a run out tide. Produces Jewfish, Cod and Barramundi.
Tide Island
Deep hole has jew fish at times.
Compigne Island
Sunken shipping container holds Grunter, Barramundi and Jewfish at times.
Quion Island
Large back eddy drops into a hole. To the north Barramundi, Grunter and Cod at times.
Turtle Island
Rocky out crop, has good fish on an outgoing tide. Barramundi, Queenfish, Bream and Cod mostly.
Fishermans Landing
Big back eddy and nervous water on a run out tide. Cod, Grunter and Bream.
LNG Pipe
Underwater pipe has mostly cod however Jew fish turn up at times.
Rat Island
GT, Queensfish, Cod and the odd Coral Trout.
Manning Reef
Small reef species like Spangled Emperor, Tusk fish and cod around manning reef.
Pilot Marker
Has big spanish mackerel and school mackerel in winter. Bottom fishing sometimes produces small Nannygai. Good place to get live bait herring.
Facing Island Rocks
Fishing well for bream and flathead on the run out tide.
Yarwun Pond
Fish the start of the run out tide for Bream, Barramundi, Blue salmon, Cod and grunter. Soft plastics work well. Rocky bottom… Maybe not legal.
South Trees Boat ramp
Family friendly bait spot for the kids. Small Bream mostly. Rocky to the north. Live bait.
Auckland Wharf
Cast towards the pylons for Cod and Bream.
Gladstone Yacht club
Pontoon, good for soaking a bait with the kids. Cast net for prawns on the big tides at night here and along the auckland park.
South trees hole
Deep rocky hole about 5m offshore. Fish the start of the incoming tide for Barramundi, Mangrove Jack and Bream.
Calliope River Powerlines
Quiet place to soak a bait. Barramundi, Bream, Flathead, Grunter and Blue salmon.
Calliope River Anabranch
Deep hole. Live bait for Barramundi. Bream, Flathead and Grunter also move in and out of the feed creek.
Calliope River Bridge
Best fished on a run out tide. Bream, Flathead and the odd grunter. Rubble bottom.
Hot Water outlet
Warm water from the power station pumps out here. Barra school up in here during winter. Live bait is the best.
