Approximately 1.5km south of Quobba Station, high rock is 8-10m above sea level. A long gaff is required to land any fishing, spinning metal slugs, bottom bouncing and ballooning are effective. Safety anchor points are provided.

Where to go fishing near High Rock?

  • The Caves A beautiful fishing spot however difficult to access, requires four wheel drive. Fantastic lure fishing and bottom bouncing. Anglers must be fit to even attempt the climb down to the Caves fishing spot.
  • Camp Rock A great spot for spinning and bottom bouncing, camp rock produces Emperor, Snapper, Tuna and Mackerel. Accessed via a steep four wheel drive track.
  • The Ledge Just north of Cape Cuvier the ledge is one of the better spots for spinning lures. A long gaff and a steep climb down a cliff is required to access this prime fishing spot near Quobba.
  • 2 Mile A great spot for lure fishing, however seek local advice before fishing this spot as the tide and swell must be right.
  • Gnaraloo Station Gnaraloo Station is a Sanctuary area so fishing is off the cards. However there is some fantastic snorkelling. The waters to the north are well worth exploring.
  • Red Bluff The bluff is slightly more protected from southerly swells and the rock platforms are much closer to the water. Along the bluff anglers can work soft plastics between reefy structure for Emperor, Cod, Coral Trout, Pink Snapper and Baldchin Groper. To the north are some good platforms that give way to deeper waters.
  • Cape Cuvier Closer to the water than most rocky platforms, Cape Cuvier is a good place to cast metal slugs, soft plastics and poppers for Mackerel and Tuna. T
  • The Boundary Five meters above sea level the rocky platform gives access to deeper waters where anglers balloon for Tuna, Mackerel and more.
  • Point Quobba Great beach fishing for Spangled Emperor, Tailor, Whiting and Cod. To the south fish the close inshore reefs with soft plastics and poppers to entice Tailor and Emperor. A small boat gives anglers wider options to fish inside the bay for Tuna, Mackerel and Cobia. Trolling these waters if effective.
