Where to go fishing near Gourdon Bay?

• Injudinah Creeks About 25km from Port Smith boat launch and 8km from Black Rock beach launch near Lagrange community (permission required), these creek fish well for Mangrove Jack, Cod, Bream, Flathead, Trevally, Threadfin Salmon, Blue Salmon and the odd barramundi. Two northern creeks fish the best.
• Injudinah Creek Permission required, speak to Port Smith caravan park owners. Creeks well worth fishing for Mangrove Jack, Cod, Flathead and Bream on the low tide. Fish the deeper pools. Abundant mud crabs can be pulled from holes and found under snags on low tide. The off Barramundi mainly in December.
• False Cape Bossut Reef Can be good reef fishing on high tide for Tuskfish. Trevally and Queenfish also around the reef at the top of the high tide and out going tide.
• Port Smith Reef Approximately 12km offshore, uncomfirmed reef fishing spot, slight bend in the reef about 14m deep. Coral Trout, Grass Emperor, Trevally and Queenfish. Possibly Mackerel.
• Port Smith Reef Approximately 15km offshore, reef fishing spot, isolated rock, goes from 4.5m to 12m deep.
• Justice Shoal Justice Shoal, approximately 15km offshore from Port Smith has good reef fishing. The shoal is 2m deep (drying height) and is surrounded by 10m+ deep water. The shoal produces Tuskfish, Coral Trout, Grass Emperor, Trevally, Queenfish and Mackerel on the troll.
• Port Smith flats fishing Good flats fly fishing for roaming Trevally and the odd Permit.
• False Cape Bossut Seek permission from Port Smith caravan park before accessing this spot. The headland produces Trevally and Queenfish on high tide. The odd Barramundi also in the murky waters of the out going neap tide.
• False Cape Bossut Creek Seek permission from Port Smith Caravan park first, accessed via narrow four wheel track, the rocky creek has Mangrove Jack, Cod, Bream, Flathead, Queenfish and small Trevally. The rocks out the front also fish well for the odd Tuskfish, Queenfish and Trevally.
• Port Smith small Creek Accessed via four wheel drive track south of Port Smith, small inlet holds Mangrove jack, Cod, Bream and Flathead. Fish the incoming tide at the mouth of the creek for Blue and Threadfin Salmon, also the odd Barramundi.
• Cape Latouche Treville Accessed via four wheel drive track, good high tide fishing for Trevally, Queenfish, Tuskfish and the odd mackerel.
• Port Smith Inlet mouth Accessed via boat or four wheel drive track, the mouth is a good place to soak bait for fishing moving with the tide.
