Where to go fishing near Depuch Island North?

  • Depuch Island North Point Deep hole approximate 16m+. Spanish Mackerel, Spangled Emperor, Coral Trout and big Trevally
  • Balla Balla Creek Rocks A good land based spot cast with the tide close to the rocks, big Jewfish, Mangrove Jack, Fingermark and Threadfin Salmon.
  • Balla Balla Creek B Good rock ledge in deep water produces good fish on neap tides. Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon and Black Jewfish.
  • Balla Balla Creek D The mouth of the creek can drain completely dry depending on the sand bar and channels. There are deep pools in the creek and walking along here during low tide cast hard body lures produces Mangrove Jacks, Cod and the odd Barramundi. Threadfin Salmon around the mouth of the creeks.
  • Balla Balla Creek C Holds water in all tides. This creek produces Barramundi, Threadfin Salmon, Black Jewfish, Mangrove Jacks, Cod, Trevally and Queenfish. Careful when navigating into and out the creek.
  • Depuch Island South The south of the island has some deep holes and some channels that don't change. Sound around for likely looking rock bars for Jewfish and Threadfin Salmon. If there is dirty water around from a large tide, then Barramundi and Threadfin Salmon will be hunting bait fish trying to take shelter in the murky water. Jigging soft plastics and vibes during the neaps tides is the best method. During a spring tide live bait is the only option Barra and Threadfin here.
  • Balla Balla Creek Mouth Troll the creek mouth for Barramundi in Summer and Threadfin Salmon in Winter. Black Jewfish are also caught in the river mouth. During neap tides use soft plastic and soft vibes slow jigged on the bottom for big threadies and jewfish.
  • Balla Balla Creek Good deep holes along here, in summer is a good time to troll for Barramundi. Throughout the year Threadfin Salmon, Mangrove Jacks and Jewfish are in the deep holes, try trolling deep diving lures. On neap tides jigging vibes and soft plastics in the deep holes is effective on big Jew and Threadfin.
