Where to go fishing near Dry Dock Road Boat Ramp?

  • Dreamtime Beach Good beach fishing along Wommil bay, look for the gutters for Tailor and Bream. The pocket in the northern corner can be productive
  • Fingal Head Causeway A fairly dangerous fishing spot off the rocks, only fish in calm weather. The extra effort, anglers will be rewarded with Tailor, Bream, Kingfish, Mulloway and the odd Spanish Mackerel in summer.
  • Fingal Beach A good beach fishing spot for Bream, Flathead, Whiting and Tailor. Fish the gutters with worm, strip mullet or white bait.
  • Cane Bridge Structures along the bend of this part of the upper Tweed River are good spots to target Bream and Mangrove Jack in Summer, lures are a great way to target these fish
  • Riverside Bridge Bridge structure holds Bream and Mangrove Jack mostly in summer. Downstream from here is a deep hole with rocky bottom, also good fishing.
  • Oyster Leases These structures have some good bream fishing, early morning rising tide is the best time to target bream here. Very snaggy!
  • Womgin, Meebun Islands The channels that separate these channels and smaller gutters are great fishing spots for flathead on the runout tides. Soft plastics work best.
  • Cobaki Broadwater Fairly shallow upstream from the broadwater, this spot is deeper and has traveling fish on both run out and run in tides, Bream, Flathead and Mangrove Jack. Sand flats around here also have small channels / gutters that fold some good Flathead.
  • Cobaki Drains Keep an eye out for small drains and gutters draining into the main creek, cast orange, red or pink soft plastics lightly weighted into them on a run out tide for Flathead.
  • Cobaki Creek Mouth Good fishing around the channel and sandy flats on a run out tide for Flathead and Whiting. Small soft plastics hopped along the bottom work well.
  • Terranora Creek Bridge A good night time fishing spot for Mangrove Jack around the pylons. Deep water also has Bream and Flathead. All tides, live bait works best here.
  • Terranora Sand Bar Fish the sand flats on a high tide for Bream, Flathead and Whiting.
  • Boyds Bay Bridge Good fishing spot at night for summertime Mangrove Jack. Bream and Mulloway are also around throughout the year. Live bait works best, however strip mullet also works well on a running ball sinker.
  • Tweed River Harbour Fish around the jetties and wharfs for Bream and Mangrove Jack. Good lure fishing in summer for Mangrove jack and bream in winter.
  • Ukerebagh Passage Fish up here on high tide for Bream, Flathead and Whiting between the gaps of the sea grass. The main channel has good Flathead fishing on a run out tide.
  • Stotts Island Hole Deep hole on the bend, around 10m, produces Bream, Flathead, Mangrove Jack and Mulloway. Best to use live bait like poddy mullet for Jews and Mangrove Jack.
  • Stotts Channel Fish the run out tide for Flathead, Whiting and Bream. Soft plastics worked along the bottom works best for Flathead here. Sandy flats around here also have good Whiting fishing on high tide.
  • Broadwater Deep Hole Deep hole holds Bream and Mulloway, best fished around the turn of the tide.
  • Tweed River Sand Flats Good sand flats to pump for Yabbies, on the incoming tide good whiting move onto the sand bar.
  • Holiday Homestead A rockwall stretches along this part of the Tweed River, here anglers can expect Bream and Luderick. Summer time for the odd Mangrove Jack. Bream also under the pontoons in the small bay.
  • Barneys Point Bridge Good spot in summer to live bait for Mangrove Jack. Small Mulloway are also around. Bream and Flathead.
  • Tims Island Red channel marker holds good Bream and Flathead. The northern channel between the mainland and Tims island has good flathead on a runout tide amongst the rocks.
  • Murwillumbah Fish around the bridge for Bream and the odd Mangrove Jack. River becomes shallow upstream from here.
  • Lakes Drive Boat Ramp Rock Wall Rock wall along here holds bream, best fished with hard body lures. The odd mangrove jack in summer
  • Cobaki Bridge Mangrove Jack, Cod and Bream throughout the tides around the bridge pylons. Summertime, live bait is great for mangrove jack here.
  • Philp Parade Fish along the rock wall with small hard body lures bounced along the rocks for Bream and Flathead. Good family fishing spots along the Tweed River to soak a bait and watch the day go by, best fished on an incoming tide.
  • Dry Dock Wharf Fish off the wharf or off the rocks near the bridge on an outgoing tide for Bream and Flathead. Use a running ball sinker with bait like strip mullet.
  • Terranora Wharf Fish off the wharf for Bream, Flathead and Whiting.
  • Barneys Point This old bridge is a popular Tweed River fishing spot amongst land based anglers. Bream and flathead, bait on a running ball sinker works best.
  • Wommin Lake Drain Fish the drain on a run out tide for Bream and Luderick. Wommin Lake is shallow a kayak is best used, flathead, whiting and Bream throughout the shallow lake, good flathead on a run out tide.
  • Rocky Point Another Tweed River fishing spot for land based fishers, good on a run out tide for Bream and Flathead.
  • Cave Point A good land based fishing spot on the Tweed River, park at the boat ramp and walk around. Can walk along the bank casting small hard body lures or soft plastics for Bream, Flathead and Whiting. Soak bait for Bream and Flathead
  • Rocky Drop off Nice deeper water has good Bream and Flathead passing by on both tide, use a running ball sinker cast out past the snags, try prawn, mullet and whitebait. All vehicle access.
  • Kerosene Inlet drop off Deep drop off holds Bream, downstream the sand drop off has good flathead, try using pink soft plastics bounced along the bottom.
  • Sand Pump Sand pump station, has no fishing signs but people still fish here mostly for Bream and passing Tailor.
  • South Head At the end of Letitia Road, walk along the track out to the rock wall, fish either side for Bream and Tailor, take some metal slugs 60g for Tailor. Mulloway at night on the smaller tides.
